Process Protection
Goal: Prevent external air contaminants (dust, spores, bacteria) and internal cross-contamination from entering the product.
Application Areas: Packaging lines, cooling tunnels, filling areas, cleanrooms. These zones typically require the highest filtration efficiency.
Personnel Protection
Goal: Remove harmful smoke, dust, and odors generated during production, ensuring workplace health and safety.
Application Areas: Cooking, frying, grinding, and spice handling areas, which produce oil aerosols, thermal cooking fumes, and irritant dust.
Equipment Protection & Efficiency
Goal: Protect expensive production equipment (e.g., compressors, gas turbines) and the HVAC system from dust and oil contamination, extending service life and reducing energy consumption.
Application Areas: Compressor air intakes, HVAC return air ducts.
Do not be misled by marketing terms. Filter efficiency is strictly defined by international standards. Understanding these standards is key to making the right choice.

ISO 16890: Global standard replacing EN779 for HVAC filters. Classified by particle size capture efficiency:
ePM1: ≤1µm (bacteria, viruses, smoke). Ideal for microbiologically controlled clean areas.
ePM2.5: ≤2.5µm (bacteria, pollen, most dust). Suitable for high-standard food packaging and processing zones.
ePM10: ≤10µm (pollen, coarse dust). Typically used for pre-filtration or areas with lower air quality requirements.
EN1822 & HEPA/ULPA: Absolute high-efficiency filters.
HEPA (H13/H14): 99.97%-99.995% efficiency for 0.3µm particles. Essential for aseptic filling, RTE lines, and high-grade cleanrooms.
ULPA: ≥99.999% efficiency for the most critical applications (e.g., pharmaceutical-grade sterile production).

Filters themselves must not become contamination sources.

Material: Filter media and frames must be food-grade, corrosion-resistant, and moisture-proof. Metal frames should use stainless steel or treated aluminum. Gaskets must remain stable in humid conditions.
Flame Resistance: For high-temperature areas, filters should comply with standards such as UL 900 Class 1 or Class 2.
Sealing: HEPA filters must be installed with zero leakage. Even minor gaps compromise filtration. Use high-quality gaskets (e.g., closed-cell polyurethane foam).
