A particle above roughly 0.5 µm landing on an uncured film becomes a visible crater or speck. Supply air to the booth has to be filtered to that level, continuously.
Overspray is sticky and high in volume. If it reaches the final stage, filter life collapses and so does booth availability.
VOCs pass straight through a particle filter. Odour and emission control needs gas-phase media, sized for the solvent load, not a finer particle filter.
Above about 150 °C standard media deform and embrittle. High-temperature stages have to be specified as such.

What filter is used in a spray booth ceiling?
Ceiling (supply) air is normally filtered with F5–F8 media selected for even airflow and low shedding. The exact grade depends on the finish class the booth must deliver.
Why does my paint booth produce dirt defects?
In most cases the supply-air filtration is too coarse, the ceiling media is overloaded, or there is a bypass around a filter frame. Check grade, seating and change interval before changing paint.
Can an activated carbon filter remove paint solvent vapour?
Yes. Activated carbon adsorbs a wide range of organic solvents, but capacity is finite and depends on the vapour concentration and contact time. It must be replaced on a load-based schedule.
What temperature can standard air filters handle?
Standard synthetic media are generally limited to about 100 °C. For drying ovens and similar processes, use high-temperature media rated for the actual operating temperature.
How can we reduce filter replacement cost?
Add or improve the pre-filtration stage, change the cheapest stage more often, and monitor pressure drop so filters are changed on condition rather than by habit.
