A pleated panel filter that combines particle capture with carbon adsorption for odour and VOC control in HVAC air handling systems.

An activated carbon pleated panel filter is a combined filter: the pleated media captures airborne particles, and carbon carried in the same media adsorbs odours and low concentrations of organic compounds as the air passes through. It is installed in the HVAC air handling unit as a combined particle and gas-phase stage, and it is specified where supply or recirculated air carries both a dust load and an odour load.

The pleat is what makes the format work: folding the media multiplies the capture area available inside a shallow panel, which holds particle retention up while keeping initial pressure drop low enough for a normal air handling fan. The carbon is carried in the media itself, and the frame and protective mesh are selected to suit the installation. Selection comes down to the filtration grade, the panel depth that fits the holding frame, and the temperature the unit actually reaches, since continuous service is limited well below the instant temperature the media can survive. Replacement follows odour breakthrough and the pressure drop at which the installed grade is changed out.
